G'Day all,

I have a reel set up with 6lb fireline which i use 6-8lb fluoro leader. I have got a new reel now and would like some current suggestions of a more finesse approach for comps. line lb and brand, whether leader, mainline, the best combination, or straight though.

Kind Regards,

6lb with 6/8lb leader is what I have on my jewie stick, for the finesse approach try 2 or 3lb stren or fireline in crystal matched with a 3,4 or 5lb leader. Typically use the heavier leader on blades or around structure. FC Rock is the brand I use for leader.

I'm with Hooko, I have 3lb firelione crystal and use 4lb FC Rock FC leader as a standard setup and it works fine for me.

My advice is to upgrade the line quality.

I'd go for Sunline Super PE 6lbs. This stuff is as thin as 2-3 lbs Fireline. Very limp, and casts well. I have this on 3 reels and can't fault it, great value for money at $40.

For real finesse stuff, I run 4lbs Linesystem Bass Hard. This stuff is thin like a spider web! Again, so smooth & limp. Bit more exy at $60.

Rolls Royce is Sunline Castaway PE. In 8 lb, this stuff is THIN!!!!!! $80 a spool.

For finesse leaders I use 4-6lbs Linesytem leader, or Nitlon DFC. Both are supple, and give good knot strength.

Hope this helps.
